Amethi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 5 (ANI): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is taking credit for the works done by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government in Amethi.

"The senior leaders of the BJP are trying to take credit for the works done by the UPA Government in Amethi," Gandhi told reporters on the second day of his visit here.

Gandhi read out a list of achievements by the UPA in the city that included six national highways, a 200-bed hospital, the Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University in Fursatgunj, and a SAIL unit in Jagdishpur, among others.

"I'm happy for our friends in the BJP, who are trying to re-inaugrate these projects, but we did the work in Amethi," Gandhi said.

Continuing with the criticism of the NDA-led government, the Congress vice-president said that the government is not addressing two major crises in the country- unemployment and agrarian crisis.

"Our Prime Minister should accept the crisis and start working to resolve it instead of panicking and making excuses," Gandhi said, adding that Prime Minister Modi is diverting the topic by talks of Swachh Bharat and Make in India campaign.

He also added an "advice" for the prime minister: "The prime minister should stand up and say 'yes, we have not delivered'. We have one more year; we will deliver. That is what a true leader would do."

Rahul Gandhi began his three-day visit to his parliamentary constituency, on Wednesday.

On his first day, Gandhi stressed on similar issues and claimed that the leading dispensation has failed to provide jobs and secure farm incomes.

He also remarked that the BJP should go and let the Congress party take over in this case. (ANI)
