The rainfall was recorded more in south Bengaluru. The water stagnation was comparatively lesser in the northern parts of the city.
The overnight rain led to parking lots being submerged, snapping of power at a couple of places, making travel difficult for commuters.
On Monday night, the city had received 44.8mm of rain for August. But on Tuesday the figure rose to 128.7mm - the highest rainfall in a day since 1890, according to the Met department.
Water logging persisted on Wednesday prompting BJP leaders criticized the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Congress-ruled state government of neglecting the basic infrastructure.
IT city Bengaluru went paralyzed on Tuesday as torrential rain brought the city to a standstill.
