The recent slapping of 50 percent trade tariffs on Indian merchandise exports by the United States should not come as a shock to New Delhi even as President Donald Trump cited “national security” concerns behind the move. This is Trump’s way of telling India that it’s not the economy, stupid! But it is about politics and geopolitics. If Russian oil imports by India was the case then the world would not have been seeing images flashing on their television screens and
