"Holding the government to reaching 5 trillion USD by 2024 is not fair. Because the fact is you have a pandemic and lots of other things. It's been a very unusual period. So, now let's look at the revised audit which is 10 trillion USD by 2030. If you rephrase your question, is this audit feasible? The way as an economist from the outside I would address that question as what does it mean for the growth rate? Now, the Indian economy today is about 2.95 trillion USD. In order to reach something close to 10 trillion USD by 2030 and allowing an international 3% inflation rate in dollar terms. "When was the judiciary independent? In my opinion, it is been by and large independent but there are two dramatic moments when I would have to admit that the independence of the judiciary was lost. So. one was obviously during the emergency when the Supreme Court rendered its ADM Jabalpur judgement which was the lowest of the low watermark in this country and it doesn't matter that 30-40 years later you apologise for it. The fact is that the judiciary did let the country down. I am sorry to say we are passing through another such moment in history. But this time, more subtly, and without the declaration of the emergency and I must tell you it is much easier for a citizen or a lawyer to challenge authoritarian power if you have a document in writing. Today, you have no such document in writing. But, independence in my opinion to some extent is lost because the appointments which are being made to the Supreme Court are being done through the backdoor by the executive," said Indira Jaising, Senior Advocate & Noted Human Rights Lawyer.
"I think the foundations of this country are very strong. We are blessed with one of the best constitutions in the world. First of all, it is a post-second world war constitution and therefore heavily influenced by the universal declaration of Human rights. So, our country actually fast-forwarded many many centuries into 1947. We inherited a lot of wisdom of the world which is written into our constitution. We had wonderful people like Dr Ambedkar be on the drafting committee. This constitution sets up governing ethos which we come to call "secular." What does it mean? It means that each one in this country counts for one. Every single person is an autonomous human being who has to be treated with equality, respect, and dignity. Now, the question is who will deliver to us the promise of the constitution. For that, we have the executive, legislature and judiciary. Each of these branches has to maintain a check over the above. This is how we visualise the judiciary as an independent institution. The fundamental rights are the most important provisions of the constitution," said Indira Jaising, Senior Advocate & Noted Human Rights Lawyer.

"I think we are all trying very hard to break the mould and cross cinematic boundaries. We are trying as filmmakers, producers, content creators. But then we also have forgotten that there was an innocence and purity to what we were known as. The quintessential Bollywood movie which has its heart on its sleeve, songs on your lips, and dance for no reason. But I was like do it all over again," said Karan Johar.
Talking about the OTT platforms and losing sight of theatrical cinema, Karan Johar said, "Actually, not at all. The decision to release films on OTT platforms were made because of the pandemic. Because there was a global pandemic and we didn't have theatres at full capacity. There was a lot of investment in those movies. At the time of Shershah's release in August were at the tick of the pandemic. You know, we would have to keep that film waiting for nearly an year. There are things like the cost of capital. Each film has a budget and restrain. Today Shershah is better off for it. It was seen by massive audiences."
"My father was a very loved man in the film fraternity and knew everybody and has been working in the movies since the 1950s. He used to do production and he was very loved and revered by the fraternity. Unfortunately, besides his very first film as a producer "Dostana", there were a series of films that hadn't worked commercially. So, while he was known and made very massive cinematic experiences. They hadn't been successful. So, after 1980 that Dostana was released, he had 18 years of failure. it wasn't a very easy time. I mean people don't really think about that today when they think about Dharma productions but we are rather nascent because I started actively producing multiple films only post 2008," said Karan Johar.
"I don't like being called KeJo. It just got stuck somehow. It was a member of the media named Namrata Joshi. She did a cover story for "Outlook" right after the release of 'Kal Ho Na Ho.' They used to call her NamJo in the office. That's how she called it KeJo and it just got stuck right after that," said Karan Johar.

Dr Subramaniam performed an amazing melody.
"I started when I was six years old. At that time my father was working as a visiting Professor. My father was responsible for bringing the violin as a solo instrument on the stage. Before that violin was just an accompanying instrument. He was in Sri Lanka and on one auspicious day he was performing. So I decided that I should play in the temple that day," said Dr L Subramaniam.
Usha Uthup sang 'Shaan Se' during the launch of her autobiography.
"One character that stood out was Gabbar. He (Amjad Khan) was there a bit by accident as Danny Denzongpa was not able to play the role. By default Amjad Khan moved in and it was a last minute thing because we didn't want to miss the schedules. One had to work a little harder on him because he was new compare to rest who were all stalwarts who had done a hell alot of work. So, it took a little time for him to get into a role. He was fantastic. The other thing was his voice. Lot of people wanted it dubbed. He had a strange voice which was not as baritone like it was expected to be. But it was that tone that made it so different. And that laughter of his. You can't dubbed that," said Ramesh Sippy.
"I think, we are still pondering what keeps Sholay even alive till today. To keep it that much ahead of its time that its still relatable to those with you and behind you and the future. But I think what appealed most was the very direct story telling and subtlity even in performances for that time certainly," said Ramesh Sippy.
Session on "Freedom's Children: Remembering the Country they Grew Up In" with Usha Uthup, Dr L Subramaniam and Ramesh Sippy begins.
"When an actor rejects a story. So, its is our work to narrate a story to the actor. If they likes it they'll do it. Sometimes, we also select our actors. Some actors wants to work with us but we don't want to make film with him. So there is nothing to be hurt about from both the sides," said Anand L Rai.
"My films are the reflection of my own personality. Every filmaker should have thir own reflections in the films they make. So, as you said we sometime show our tricolour flags in the films. But, in contemporary times, there is a differrence between patriotism and nationalism. In 83 I tried to show that for nationalism sometimes we need a counter point or a villian. However, for patriotism you don't need such thing, because it is a pure love for your country," said film director Kabir Khan.
"In today's time its become much easier to make film. Because there are a lot of avenues to get it across to the audience. Thankfully because of the OTTs we are not scared of telling stories. I always made such films which made sense to me. I have not much cared about how will it reach an audience. So, I haven't paid actively paid attention to the business of cinema which is unfortunately very essential. So, for me the OTT was just a blessing because now there are really no answers. There are some numbers that OTT feeds back to you. Take it or leave it," said film director Nagesh Kukunoor.
"When a story is being selected to make a film about. For me along with the society the thought of the upcoming generation also provides me with the strength to select that story. If we are going to talk about a taboo topic and the strength to tell that taboo through a story is provided to me with the upcoming generation. They provide me with the clarity and a progressive approach through which I weave out the story to an audience which was absent 10 or 15 years ago," said producer & director Aanand L Rai.
"There is no doubt in this. As filmmakers we pick our stories from the society. Bollywood is not a club, its a part of the society. As in society there are various individuals with differrent perspectives and ideologies, so are the filmmakers with their own individual perspective. So, whenever someone question what is the perspective of bollywood on this issue? I feel its wrong, as bollywood doesn't have one view, their are various," said Film Director Kabir Khan.

It also gives them autonomy to decide what modalities of treatment they want and the biggest achievement of it has been to decriminalize suicide... A person who is thinking about suicide is obviously someone who needs treatment and then you don't want the family to be grappling with legal hassles. "You can be a high-achiever and doing extremely well in professional life, but you could also be struggling with mental health concerns so it's very important to address that... You may feel you have failed an individual if you have a mental health concern, but the fact is anybody can have anxiety," Neerja Birla said.
Neerja Birla says awareness about mental health should start at an individual level at an early stage. She revealed that not knowing about post-partum depression affected her a lot. She says had she known she would have been able to deal with much better and would have spoken about it openly early on.
