In the wake of the rising cases of coronavirus in the national capital, the Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday said it has decided to conduct mandatory Covid tests on people coming from Delhi in order to curb the further spread of the novel disease in the state. "We will be testing people coming from Delhi via flight, bus or train, in the wake of surge in COVID-19 cases in the national capital," UP Chief Secretary RK Tiwari said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Speaking to the media, the official further said that the government is also discussing on the number of people allowed to attend weddings or events in order to prevent the spread of infectious disease in the state.

In view of the increasing cases of corona, DM Suhas LY on Saturday announced that not more than 100 persons will be allowed to attend any function, marriage and other social event whether held outdoors or indoors.

Meanwhile, the health department team on Delhi-Noida between Chilla and DND is conducting random Corona tests. During this, a person who is found to be Corona positive is not being given entry in Noida.

In another development, the Union Government has decided to depute high level Central Teams to Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to support the States in COVID response and management.

As per the latest development, three-member teams will visit the districts reporting high number of COVID cases and support the State efforts towards strengthening containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, and efficient clinical management of the positive cases.
