New Delhi: In view of the rising Covid-19 cases across the country, Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya will interact with health ministers of five states and a Union Territory to review the situation on Monday.


What are the five states participating?


The Union minister will virtually interact with health ministers of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The meeting will be held virtually at 3:30 pm.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting to take stock of the Covid-19 situation in the country amid soaring cases of the Omicron variant across various states.


Apart from the officials of Prime Minister Office, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, DG of ICMR and many other officials are present in this review meeting.


Covid-19 Cases In India On January 10


India on Monday reported 1,79,723 fresh covid cases and 146 covid related deaths in the last 24 hours. This is a 12.5% rise in covid cases from Sunday. India's active case tally reaches 7,23,619 while the daily positivity rate is at 13.29%.


While the tally of Omicron cases in the country is also witnessing a steep rise as the cases jumped to 4,033. Around 1,552 of these people have been recovered or discharged from hospitals. 


The precautionary Covid-19 vaccination dose for health and frontline workers and senior citizens above 60 years of age with comorbidities will also be administered starting today.
