New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a couple from the national capital’s Daryaganj area for violating the Covid-19 protocols and misbehaving with the men on duty. This took place when the police personnel stopped the couple sitting in a car without masks at Delhi Gate, Daryaganj. The couple later misbehaved with the policemen, who issued a challan against them for not following a simple Covid protocol. The video of the incident went viral on social media.
It was found out during investigation that the couple identified as Pankaj Dutta and Abha Gupta put up in Patel Nagar. Cases have been registered against them under Sections 188, 34, 51B DDMA, 353 and 186 of the IPC.
The husband works in a private sales company while his wife is preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams.
Pankaj after his arrest said that he was instigated by his wife. He added that he usually wears a mask outside but his wife doesn't allow him to wear when she is around.
Abha still believed that masks must be worn only at public places.
The administration has issued strict guidelines in the national capital in the wake of the surge in Covid-19 cases.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a week-long curfew in Delhi starting tonight in the national capital.
He also urged the people to strictly follow the guidelines and not step out of their homes.
