On his first day in the Ministry of Ayush, Munjapara Mahendrabhai said that PM Narendra Modi has taught him to face any crisis.

"There was a sizeable reduction of COVID patients due to 'kadha'. Homeopathy, Modi's yoga have a big role in saving patients from COVID. Opposition members take medicines from me": the MoS was quoted as saying by ANI.

Munjapara Mahendrabhai is a first-time Lok Sabha MP and prior to his political career, he had a three-decade-long distinguished career as a Cardiologist and Professor of Medicine in Gujarat. He holds an MD in General Medicine and Therapeutics from Gujarat University.

While as the Ayush Ministry MoS, Mahendrabhai hails 'kadha' and "Modi's yoga" for tackling COVID, his role in the Women and Child Development Ministry will have him face the issue of malnutrition among children and women in the country after reports recently suggested a worrying situation regarding the same.

The Ministry of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy) works towards developing education, research and awareness of indigenous alternative medicine systems in India.

Former Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal was included back in the Union ministry for the second time as the in-charge of the Ministry of Ayush along with the Ministry of  Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
