New Delhi: The union health minister Harsh Vardhan has said that despite increasing Covid 19 cases in India there is no community transmission in the country and that some localised pockets may have higher transmission. The minister also told news agency ANI, that the recovery rate among COVID-19 patient sands at about 63 percent and the country also has a very low mortality rate which is at 2.72 percent. “We are not concerned about the number of cases. We are ramping up testing so that maximum cases can be detected & treated. Around 2.7 lakh tests are being done daily,” said Vardhan regarding the situation of Covid 19 in the country.


At present India has a total of 7,93,802 cases of Covid 19 with a total of 276682 active cases across the country. Despite the rising numbers, Vardhan reiterated that there is no community transmission in the country.

“Despite being such a large country, we've not reached the community transmission stage of COVID-19. Though there are some small pockets where there could be slightly higher transmission locally,” said Vardhan

On Friday India recorded the highest single-day spike of 26,502 new Covid-19 cases and 475 deaths in 24 hours. Maharashtra (2,30,599), Tamil Nadu(of 1,26,581) and Delhi of (1,26,581) are the worst affected states in the country. India remains the third worst-affected country from the pandemic after the United States and Brazil.
