New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said the number of daily Covid-19 cases are on decline in at least 18 states and union territories, including Maharashtra and Delhi.


Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said “more than one lakh active cases are there in 13 states, 50,000 to one lakh active cases in six states and less than 50,000 active cases in 17 states”.



Bhushan, who was addressing a media briefing, said Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Telangana, Chandigarh, Ladakh, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the states and Union Territories where the coronavirus cases are on the decline.

He added Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh are the states and Union Territories, which are still a matter of concern, as they are showing continued increasing trend in the daily new coronavirus cases.


Bhushan further said that 26 states still have a positivity rate of more than 15 percent.



Earlier in the day, the Union Health Ministry in a press release said a net decline of 30,016 cases recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours for the first time after two months (61 days), adding also, after 61 days, the new recoveries outnumber the new cases seen in last 24 hours.
