New Delhi: Although the atmosphere becomes pleasant during the rainy season, this weather brings certain infections. Even the slightest carelessness during the monsoon season, especially when it's raining, can make you vulnerable to skin diseases. Skin rash is a common problem in this season. Apart from personal hygiene, taking care of some small but important things can help you steer clear of skin infections.

Damp Clothes

During monsoon often there is no sunlight. Sometimes people wear clothes that are not properly dried. Avoid such clothes and especially damp undergarments because they can cause a lot of damage. When damp clothes come into direct contact with our skin they can cause rashes, allergies, and itching.

Only wear properly dried clothes and if there is no sunlight, dry the damp clothes under the fan or a dryer.

Use Breatheable Fabric

Cotton clothes are a good option in monsoon. This fabric allows the air to reach your skin and reduces the chances of skin infection. Don't choose a very tight and unbreathable fabric.

Also, change your clothes even if they are only slightly wet due to drizzling. Don't wear clothes that feel damp because of light drizzle.

Small Essentials

It's better to trim your nails, both hands and feet, during this season. Long nails attract bacteria. This increases the chances of fungal infections. If there is swelling or itching around the finger then it's an indication of infection. A dermatologist can help you in reducing infection by prescribing the right anti-fungal creams or powders.

Drink plenty of water, take a shower after coming back home, especially if you are drenched. And do not wear fresh clothes unless you have dried your body thoroughly. Take special care of cleaning your hands and feet as these are the first gateways to infection.
