New Delhi: With the country’s largest vaccination drive against coronavirus begins today, the Union minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan has informed citizens about the Co-Win platform that will be used to monitor the vaccination drive in the country. In his Tweet, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the digital platform will help the government in enabling the world's largest vaccination drive.
Check features of the app
The mobile application is available in five different modules-Administrator module, Registration module, Vaccination module, Beneficiary Acknowledgement module, and Report module. It helps to track the registration process for Covid-19 vaccination. It is mandatory for beneficiaries to be registered on the CoWIN platform to get the vaccination.
The app is an upgraded version of the eVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network). You can download it for free once it is made available in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The app may also be launched on Jio phones that run on KaiOS.
What to keep in mind while registering?
Those who are not frontline health workers can register for the vaccine via the 'Registration Module' soon. Co-WIN app for self-registration will be available soon and will be duly announced by the government, the health ministry said. At present the app is going to be used as a back-end software during the vaccination drive. "The self-registration module of Co-WIN App has not been released yet. Be wary of any fraudulent apps with similar names that may exist on different platforms," Dr Harsh Vardhan said.
Also, beware of the fake CoWIN apps that are doing the rounds on app stores. The government’s Co-WIN app is still under development.
Here is how you can register at Co-Win
You will require photo identity for registration. With the help of 'Administrator module' you will be able to track the information provided by citizens. "It will upload bulk data on co-morbidity provided by local authorities or by surveyors," the government had explained last month. Admins will be responsible for creating sessions, while the respective vaccinators and managers will receive relevant notifications and alerts.
Once the vaccination module of the Co-Win app verifies the beneficiary details, you will get the update on vaccination status. The 'Beneficiary Acknowledgement Module' will then send SMS to beneficiaries and also generate QR-based certificates after one gets vaccinated. At last the Report Module will prepare reports of how many vaccine sessions have been conducted, how many people have attended those, how many people have dropped out etc.
The app will also ensure that you get the second dosage of the vaccine on time. “It will generate a certificate after the first dosage of vaccine and the final certificate will be issued after the second dosage," informed PM Narendra Modi. It will also facilitate real-time information about vaccine stocks and storage temperature during the Covid-19 vaccination drive.
India has set up a 24x7 call centre – 1075 — for all inoculation related queries. "A dedicated 24x7 call centre – 1075 – has also been established for addressing the queries related to COVID-19 pandemic, vaccine rollout and the Co-WIN software," Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.
