New Delhi: India continues to witness a daily surge of over 3 lakh Covid infections. The country reported 3,37,704 new cases in the last 24 hours registering a marginal dip than yesterday. India has surpassed the 10,000 mark in Omicron cases as 10,050 total cases of the highly transmissible variant have been detected in the country so far.


India recorded an increase of 3.69% in Omicron cases since yesterday.


The country's active caseload is currently at 21,13,365 as active cases stand at 5.43%. The recovery rate is currently at 93.31%.


 





Maharashtra


Maharashtra on Friday recorded 48,270 new coronavirus cases including 144 fresh Omicron infections besides 52 pandemic-related deaths, according to the state health department.


Daily infections increased by 2,073 compared to the day before.

The COVID-19 caseload in the state rose to 74,20,027, while the death toll reached 1,42,023. The case fatality rate in the state stands at 1.91 per cent.

Of 144 patients with Omicron infection reported during the day, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) reported 124 cases, Solapur eight, Pune Rural six, and Parbhani, Jalgaon, Mumbai, Raigad, Satara and Beed recorded one case each. The Omicron case tally in the state reached 2,343, of whom 1,171 patients have recovered so far.

As many as 42,391 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of recovered patients to 70,09,823.


Kerala


 Kerala on Friday reported 54 more Omicron, a variant of coronavirus, and took the total affected by the variant to 761, according to a PTI report.

Of the 54, one, belonging to Karnataka, came to Kerala from the UAE.

"Out of those infected today, 35 were from low-risk nations and seven from a high-risk country. One patient reached the State from outside it and 11 contracted the disease through their contacts," the department said in a press release.

Of these, eight are from Thiruvananthapuram district, six each from Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kannur, five each from Kollam and Kottayam, four from Alappuzha, three from Kozhikode, two from Palakkad and one each from Wayanad and Kasaragod, said the department.
