New Delhi: India has reported a surge in Covid 19 cases after the daily surge in infections surpassed the 1000-mark again on Tuesday. The country logged India 1,088 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.


With this, India's active cases at present stand at 10,870, comprising 0.03 per cent of the total infections.


The daily positivity rate is 0.25 per cent. The recovery rate is currently at 98.76 per cent with 1,081 recoveries in the last 24 hours, while the total recoveries till now are 4,25,05,410, informed the Health Ministry on Wednesday.


A total of 186.07 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive, stated the health bulletin.


According to the Ministry, more than 191.19 crore vaccine doses were provided to States and UTs while more than 19.88 crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses are still available to the states and UTs.


Meanwhile, 79.49 crore total tests have been conducted so far with 4,29,323 tests in the last 24 hours.


Maharashtra


Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 113 fresh coronavirus cases, 72 more than a day ago, and four deaths linked to the infection, while 127 patients recovered from the disease, the health department said.

With these additions, the state's overall COVID-19 tally rose to 78,75,324, while the death toll increased to 1,47,820, the department said in a bulletin.


Gujarat
The number of students who have been detected with coronavirus in the Gandhinagar-based Gujarat National Law University over the last six days has touched 64 after nine more students tested positive, according to a PTI report. 

All those infected are university students who met physically for the first time after offline classes resumed on April 4, Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Medical Officer of Health Dr Kalpesh Goswami said.

None of them require hospitalisation and all have been kept in isolation in the institute's hostel, with three teams monitoring their health round the clock, Goswami said.
