New Delhi:

  India has registered a steep decline in Coronavirus cases as the country registered less than 1000 fresh infections on Sunday. 913 new COVID-19 infections were witnessed in the last 24 hours taking the active cases to 12,597, according to the data shared by Health Ministry.


The country's daily surge in cases dipped below 1000 after 715 days.


India also recorded 1316 recoveries and 13 deaths in the last 24 hours.


Active cases: 12,597 (less than 13,000 after 714 days)


Death toll: 5,21,358


Daily positivity rate: 0.29%


Total vaccination: 1,84,70,83,279





Maharashtra on Sunday reported 117 new coronavirus positive cases, taking the state's overall tally to 78,74,394. According to the health bulletin released by the state, twoo fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours taking the overall death toll to 1,47,789.

The two fatalities were recorded in Thane city and Sindhudurg district

A total of 131 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the recovery count rose to 77,25,684, according to a PTI report.

The state's COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 98.11 per cent, while the fatality rate is 1.87 per cent.

The department said that 18,717 tests were conducted on Sunday and 7,94,72,239 people have been tested till now.

There are 921 active infection cases in the state at present.

Mumbai city recorded 35 new cases and zero death. With this, its case load increased to 10,57,189 and the death toll remained unchanged at 19,559.
