New Delhi: While Covid cases in Noida and Ghaziabad schools have raised concern among the people, India has reported 796 fresh cases in the last 24 hours taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,30,36,928, according to the data released by the Health Ministry.


The country registered 946 recoveries on Monday and 19 people succumbed to the deadly disease.  With recoveries outnumbering the new infections the active cases dipped to 10,889, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

The death toll climbed to 5,21,710 with 19 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.76 per cent. A reduction of 169 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.20 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.24 per cent, according to the ministry. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,25,04, 329, while the case fatality rate was recorded as 1.21 per cent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 85.90 crore.

Maharashtra on Monday logged 41 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest daily count in nearly two years, taking the overall tally to 78,75,211, while no fresh death due to the infection was reported in the state, the health department said.

The death toll remained unchanged at 1,47,816 with no fresh addition to the fatality count in the last 24 hours, a health department bulletin said.

Maharashtra saw more than 50 per cent drop in COVID-19 cases as compared to Sunday, when the state had reported 90 infections.

Notably, out of the eight administrative circles in Maharashtra, five - Kolhapur, Akola, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Latur - did not report a single fresh case.
