With Covid-19 cases surpassing last year's count, several states have already imposed restrictions and other states are also taking utmost care to rein in the cases ahead of the festive weekend.


List of cities imposing corona restriction


Maharashtra


From Friday onwards, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and all cities and districts of Maharashtra will be under strict lockdown till Monday at 7 am. The night curfew along with weekend lockdown will get implemented in these cities. No movement apart from essential services will be allowed. Jammu and Kashmir


Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also ordered night curfew in the urban areas of eight districts, including Jammu and Srinagar, as per news agency PTI. These districts are Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam, Anantnag, and Kupwara. The night curfew will come into effect from Friday, the office of the Lt governor said.


Raipur


After rise in cases, Raipur in Chhattisgarh's has also been declared a containment zone and its border will be sealed from 6 pm on Friday till 6 am, April 19. Only essential services will be allowed for these 10 days. Also note that students appearing in exams will be exempted from these restrictions. Offices of Central government, state government, semi-government, as well as private offices and banks will remain close.


Bhopal


All cities of Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, will come under a 60-hour lockdown starting from 6 pm Friday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced. Several other districts in the state have been already observing Sunday lockdowns. But this weekend, there will be strict restrictions in all urban areas of the state. 


Karnataka


Karnataka is the latest to join the list. The state government has imposed a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am from Saturday in six cities. "The ‘corona curfew' (night curfew) will be imposed in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Tumkuru, Udupi and Manipal till 20 April, said Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa.


It is to be noted that essential services are exempted from the night curfew. However, the CM while appealing for cooperation from people of the state, especially those where the curfew has been imposed said the measures have been taken because of the rising cases of Corona and no lockdown is being imposed. Under the new restrictions, marriages, functions, meetings, and events will have to happen within the limitations that have been fixed.


Also, note that Rs 250 fine is being imposed for not wearing the mask and it will be made more stringent. Karnataka has been listed among the 10 states along with Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Kerala, and Punjab to record a surge in the daily coronavirus cases. The state accounts for 84.21 per cent of the record 1.26 lakh new infections on Thursday, as per the union health ministry.


In Bengaluru, testing has been intensified with a target of 1 lakh tests a day besides conducting a door-to-door survey to identify positive cases.


Noida, Ghaziabad


Even in Uttar Pradesh areas including Gautam Buddh Nagar, Allahabad, Meerut, and Ghaziabad will remain under night curfew. On Wednesday, Kanpur and the Lucknow Municipal Corporation area aslo witnessed similar curbs.


The fresh curbs will be in force from 10 pm to 5 am till April 17 from Thursday night in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, according to the orders.


Delhi


Delhi will witness a night curfew between 10 pm and 5 am till 30 April. However, pregnant women, patients, those travelling to and from airports, railway stations, state bus terminus on showing tickets are exempt from the restrictions.
