- Diplomats are on a day-long visit to Hyderabad to see the facilities at the two companies for developing coroanvirus vaccines.
- The visit has been arranged by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as part of India's efforts to develop partnerships for the manufacture and delivery of vaccines.
- At both pharma compnies the envoy was showcased the progress made so far in the development of the vaccines and the rollout plans by both the companies
- The Telangana government made elaborate arrangements for the visit and Covid-19 protocols are being adhered. The state authorities arranged five well- equipped buses and a special medical team.
- The heads of foreign missions will are also being details on the state's potential in the production and supply of vaccines
- The development of Genome Valley and proposed Pharma City will also be showcased
- They are being briefed by Dr Krishna Ella, Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Biotech International Limited
- The diplomats were briefed on the vaccine trials underway in the country last month. They were also told about efforts to manufacture and deliver the doses
- Last month Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Bharat Biotech's facility on November 28 as part of his three-city tour to take stock of the COVID-19 vaccine development work in the country
- Bharat Biotech is also developing an intranasal vaccine and is likely to initiate Phase 1 trials of the vaccine after approval from regulatory bodies

Foreign diplomats from over 60 countries are visiting biotech firms in Telangana that are developing India's Covid-19 vaccine.

New Delhi: Foreign envoys from more than 60 countries visited Hyderabad based pharma company Bharat Biotech which is developing India's Covid-19 vaccine candidate Covaxin. The diplomats are visiting both Bharat Biotech and and Biological E as interest in Covid-19 vaccine development have increased globally.
