India recorded 12,899 fresh covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the active caseload to 72,474. With this tally, the active cases now make 0.17 percent of the total cases in India. With 15 new deaths, the total fatality rate currently stands at 1.21 percent. 


According to a press release by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 8,518 patients recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,26,99,363 with a recovery rate of 98.62 percent. 


India has been witnessing a slow hike in the number of covid-19 cases. The daily positivity rate in India currently stands at 2.89 percent. The weekly positivity rate in India currently is 2.50 percent. 




The total number of tests done during the previous day was 4,46,387, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.


Meanwhile, the total number of vaccine doses administered in the last 24 hours is 13,24,591. With this, the total number of vaccine doses administered in the country so far is 1,96,14,88,807.


On the other hand, India’s Bharat Biotech said that the third phase of clinical trials of its covid-19 nasal vaccine has been completed and the data regarding the same will be shared with the Drugs Controller General of India next month.


In an interview with ANI, Dr. Krishna Ella, Chairman and MD of Bharat Biotech said, "We just completed a clinical trial, a data analysis is going on. Next month, we will submit the data to the regulatory agency. If everything is okay, then we will get permission to launch and it will be the world's first clinically proven nasal COVID-19 vaccine.”
