Coronavirus India: India on Thursday witnessed the worst-ever single-day spike with nearly 70,000 new covid-19 cases, while it saw nearly 1000 deaths in the last 24 hours. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a spike of 69,652 cases and 977 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. Also Read: This Is What ICMR Said About Emergency Authorisation For Covid-19 Vaccine And Testing From Gargled Water The Covid-19 tally in the country rises to 28,36,926 including 6,86,395 active cases, 20,96,665 cured/discharged/migrated & 53,866 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has stated. Less than 0.5% of active cases on ventilator support, less than 2% in ICU Of the 6.86 lakh active cases in India, 0.28% are on ventilator, while  1.92% are receiving treatment in intensive care units, while 2.62% are on oxygen, as per the union health ministry. Testing in India at an all-time high: India has scaled a new peak in daily testing. More than 9 lakh  Covid-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, the ministry of health has said.  The positivity rate comes down below 8%. State-wise data: With 160728 active cases, Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state. Maharashtra is followed by Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat and West Bengal respectively.
