Coronavirus In India: Amid the daily grim numbers of Covid-19, a relieving improvement has been recorded on the recovery front. The recovery rate of India has reached a landmark figure 50 lakh. It has witnessed 10 lakh recoveries within  just 11 days, and has surpassed the 50 lakh-mark on Monday,  at the same time outpacing the active cases by over five times.

"India's total recoveries cross the landmark milestone of 50 lakh. The rise from 1 lakh in June '20 has been steep. The last 10 lakh recoveries were added in just 11 days," said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The ministry also informed that recovered cases have outpaced active cases by over five times.

"India has witnessed a very high level of more than 90,000 recoveries every day recently. Recovered cases have outpaced active cases by more than 5 times," it said.

"The commendable feat has been achieved through enhanced medical infrastructure, implementation of the standard treatment protocol, full dedication and commitment of doctors, paramedics, and frontline workers," the ministry said in a series of tweets.


On Sunday, Indi recorded 88,650 fresh coronavirus cases and another 1,124 deaths in  24 hours, pushing India's total tally near the 60-lakh mark.

Of the total 59,92,532 cases, 9,56,402 are still active. As many as 49,41,627 patients were cured and discharged, whereas 94,503 succumbed to the viral disease. About 75 per cent of the new cases were from 10 states and UTs.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with 13,21,176 cases, including 35,191 deaths. It is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
