New Delhi: India on Friday reported 6,396 fresh COVID-19 cases, 13,450 recoveries, and 201 deaths in the last 24 hours.


The new coronavirus infections, took the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,29,51,556, while the active cases dipped to 69,897.


According to the Union Health Ministry data, the death toll climbed to 5,14,589 with 201 fresh fatalities.


The daily COVID-19 cases have remained below one lakh for 25 consecutive days.


The active cases comprise 0.16 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate is at 98.64 per cent.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.69 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded as 0.90 per cent.


The number of people who have recuperated from COVID-19 increased to 4,23,67,070.


The cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive exceeded 178 crores.

Coronavirus Cases In Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi


A day after reporting zero COVID-19 death, Maharashtra on Thursday recorded 12 fatalities and 467 new cases, including 243 Omicron infections.


With the addition, the state's coronavirus positive tally rose to 78,67,391 and the death toll to 1,43,718.


On Wednesday, the state had recorded 544 coronavirus positive cases but did not report any fatality. The last time the state recorded zero death was on April 1, 2020.


"Today, 234 patients with Omicron infection were reported in the state. All these patients were reported by Kasturba hospital's laboratory," the health department informed in a statement.


All 234 infections were reported from Mumbai.


To date, a total of 5,005 patients infected with the Omicron variant have been reported in the state. Of these, 4,629 patients have been discharged following a negative RT-PCR test.


A total of 1,144 patients were discharged in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the overall recovery count to 77,14,719. The recovery rate in the state is 98.06 per cent.


The active cases in Maharashtra stand at 4,953.


Meanwhile, Kerala on Thursday recorded 2,222 fresh COVID-19 infections which raised the total caseload to 65,06,655 in the state.

According to a government release, the southern state also reported 161 deaths which raised the total fatalities in Kerala to 65,758.

Of the deaths, 3 were reported in the last 24 hours, 70 were those which occurred in the last few days but were not recorded due to late receipt of documents, and 88 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, the release stated, as reported by PTI.

With 4,673 more people recovering from COVID-19, the total recoveries in the state reached 64,21,042 and the active cases dropped to 19,051.


Notably, Delhi on Thursday reported 326 fresh COVID-19 cases and three deaths, while the positivity rate stood at 0.77 per cent.

With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,60,887, while the death toll mounted to 26,130.

The number of daily cases in Delhi has been on the decline after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13. The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 14, the highest during the ongoing wave of the pandemic.
