India reported 3,095 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours while active cases stood at 15,208, the Union health ministry informed on Friday. This comes after India reported the highest single-day rise in nearly six months on Thursday logging 3,016 fresh cases.
The Covid death toll increased to 5,30,867 with five more fatalities which include Goa and Gujarat reporting one death each and three reconciled deaths in Kerala.
The positivity rate was recorded at 2.61 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 1.91 per cent.
According to the ministry, the active cases account for 0.03 per cent of the total caseload, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.78 per cent.
1,390 patients recuperated from Covid infection taking the number of recoveries to 4,41,69,711, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.
Delhi Records 295 Fresh Covid Cases, CM Kejriwal To Chair Review Meeting
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will on Friday hold a meeting to review the Covid-19 situation amid a spurt in cases, news agency PTI reported officials as saying.
Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and senior officials will be present at the meeting.
On Thursday, the Delhi Health Minister met with Health department officials to take stock of the situation following which he announced that Kejriwal would hold a review.
The health minister had said Kejriwal would be apprised of the results of the mock drill held in government-run hospitals last week and the measures taken by other states also witnessing a spike in cases.
On Wednesday, the city logged 300 cases, the first time since August 31, and two deaths while the positivity rate had jumped to 13.89 per cent.
