PlayStation Plus users will get their hands on three free games in August — Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and Little Nightmares. While these games will be available to all PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Deluxe subscribers, the last two tiers will also offer more free games in the coming weeks as Sony will update its Game Catalog. Among the three free games announced on Wednesday, one of them will be a PS4-exclusive, while the others will be available on both the PS4 and PS5. However, PS5 users should be able to access all the games thanks to the next-gen console’s backward compatibility.
The free PS Plus games will be available to download starting August 2. As always, you can add the games to your library within a month, but you need to have an active subscription to be able to access them. You still have until August 1 to download the free games from July — Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Man of Medan, and Arcadegeddon.
Here’s a quick look at the free games for August:
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2
A remaster of one of the greatest skateboarding simulators of all time, PS Plus users will be able to access the cross-gen deluxe bundle of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. Marked by incredibly smooth gameplay, enhanced graphics, and a groovy soundtrack, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 also offers local 2-player modes for some great couch gaming action. You can choose to play as legendary skateboarders such as Tony Hawk and Bucky Lasek, or decide to try your skills with Olympian skaters such as Nyjah Huston and Leticia Bufoni.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon
The incredibly fun-to-play action RPG revolves around Ichiban Kasuga, a street-level grunt who returns to society after serving 18 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Now, he must uncover the truth whilst building a menacing gang of outcasts. With over 50 substories and a humongous array of side activities, Yakuza: Like A Dragon is sure to keep you engaged for days on end.
Little Nightmares
The only PS4 exclusive is also one of the most critically acclaimed games of the lot. If you like eerie side-scrollers like Limbo, Little Nightmares should be right up your alley. You will play as Six, who must escape a disturbing world inhabited by corrupted souls who would like nothing more than to gobble you up. Tense-yet-incredible at the same time, we recommend you try Little Nightmares with the lights off and headphones on.
