Hyderabad: In an exciting development announced at the India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) 2023, the homegrown battle royale game, Indus, is set to make its debut in the popular gaming platform Fortnite. Players will soon have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the gameplay, maps, modes, and more of Indus within the realm of Fortnite on PC and macOS. The creation of this crossover was accomplished in just 27 days by a two-woman team at SuperGaming, utilising Epic Games' Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN).
Christelle D'cruz, co-founder at SuperGaming, highlighted the rapid development, stating, "We learned, built, and created Indus with UEFN in about 27 days with no prior Unreal experience. This will allow us to test Indus' gameplay with external audiences faster and give more gamers a chance to experience Indo-Futurism through their game of choice — Fortnite."

While the mobile version of Indus is gearing up for a Closed Beta release during the upcoming festive season, the Indus experience within Fortnite, designed for PC and macOS, will be available in Fortnite Creator Mode, with its release date set to be announced soon. Along with the adaptation of Indus' environments, Fortnite players will also be introduced to the unique Cosmium-focused win condition, which allows players to achieve victory by capturing this distinctive in-game resource.
Roby John, CEO and co-founder at SuperGaming, emphasised the significance of showcasing India's culture and talent on a global stage, stating, "At SuperGaming, we firmly believe that India's culture and talent demand the biggest possible stage for the world to see and play in. With Fortnite having an estimated 220 million monthly players globally, there's no better way to bring Indus and Indo-Futurism to the world."

This exciting collaboration will enable players to provide feedback on various aspects of the game, thereby influencing the direction of SuperGaming's most ambitious project to date. This approach aligns with SuperGaming's successful track record in game development, as seen with titles like MaskGun and Silly Royale. MaskGun, a popular multiplayer shooter, has attracted over 80 million players since its launch, thanks to the developer's commitment to prioritising its player community and celebrating India-specific events, such as Diwali, within the game.
