God of War Ragnarok now has a release date after months of delays and speculations. On July 6, PlayStation released a fresh cinematic trailer for the game, revealing that Ragnarok will be released in November this year. God of War Ragnarok was initially expected to release in 2021, however, it got delayed by months and the rumour mill suggested several release dates, including ones in September and December. Gamers can finally rest assured that the much-awaited action-adventure RPG will see the light of day this year itself.

God of War Ragnarok: Release date

As per the latest “Father and Son” trailer, God of War Ragnarok will be released on the PS4 and the PS5 on November 9.

The short trailer offered a glimpse into the high-on-adrenaline action Ragnarok promises, including a face-off with Fenrir, a gargantuan wolf who is the child of Loki according to Norse mythology. Gamers have already got a taste of Fenrir in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but this is God of War we are talking about. Given the game’s solid record with over-the-top battles with towering monsters, we expect the encounter with Fenrir to be one of the most memorable ones the series has to offer to date.

God of War Ragnarok: Pre-order date

God of War Ragnarok will be available for pre-orders starting July 15. Those who pre-order will get access to a couple of cosmetic in-game items — Kratos Risen Snow Armor and the Atreus Risen Snow Tunic.

God of War Ragnarok: Editions

Ragnarok will be available in four editions, and their availability will vary from market to market.

God of War Ragnarok Standard Edition will offer the full game for PS4 or PS5. The Digital Deluxe Edition, on the other hand, will have the full game along with a special PS4 theme, Dark Horse Digital mini artbook, as well as some in-game armour and weapon upgrades.

There will be two more special editions on offer — Collector’s Edition and Jötnar Edition. These will offer drool-worthy collectibles, including the likes of a 16-inch replica of Mjölnir, Thor’s iconic lightning-wielding hammer. The Jötnar Edition will also come with a special 7-inch vinyl record featuring music by celebrated musician Bear McCreary, who did the score for Ragnarok as well as 2018’s God of War.
