Female CS:GO Asian Championship: India Defeats Sri Lanka In South Asian Qualifiers To Secure Top Berth

This all-female CS:GO team made history by becoming the first of its kind to qualify for the South Asian regional qualifiers.

India's female CS:GO team has achieved a significant victory in the South Asian Qualifiers, securing their spot in the IESF Asian Championship to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 10-17, 2023. Led by team captain Swayambika Sachar, the team comprising Nidhi Salekar, Shagufta Iqbal, Dilraj Kaur Matharu, and Aastha Nangia displayed exceptional skill, defeating Sri Lanka convincingly with scores of 16-3 and 16-0 in the best-of-three matchup.

The team lost only three rounds throughout the entire series. Sachar expressed her pride in the team's achievement, stating, "We are extremely proud to have secured our spot in the Asian qualifiers and to represent India amongst all the elite teams from the continent." She highlighted the team's dedication to improvement, emphasizing their goal to secure a spot in the Grand Finals in Romania.

This all-female CS:GO team made history by becoming the first of its kind to qualify for the South Asian regional qualifiers. Their victory against Team Purr-ple in the finals of the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2023 earlier this year paved their way to the South Asian qualifiers. Their next challenge is to compete against female CS:GO teams from Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong for a chance to qualify for the 15th World Esports Championships (WEC) in Iași, Romania, from August 24 to September 4, 2023.

Vinod Tiwari, President of the Esports Federation of India (ESFI), commended the team's growth and success, expressing his confidence in their abilities. He stated, "As they embark on the upcoming Asian Championship, we extend our heartfelt wishes for their continued success and firmly believe in their ability that will help them advance to the 15th WEC."

In addition to the CS:GO team, India's DOTA 2 team, led by captain Manav Kunte, will commence their South Asian qualifiers on May 15. The Indian CS:GO (Open) team, captained by Harsh Jain, has already secured their place in the Asian Regionals on May 8.

Furthermore, India's renowned Tekken 7 professional, Abhinav Tejan, and eFootball athlete, Ibrahim Gulrez, have already qualified for the 15th WEC. The tournament is expected to be the largest edition to date, with a prize pool of $500,000 (roughly Rs 4.12 crore) and participation from at least 130 countries across eFootball, DOTA 2, Tekken 7, Mobile Legends, PUBG: Mobile, and CS:GO.
