Black Myth Wukong: Gameplay, Story

Black Myth: Wukong sparked conversations among gamers regarding its classification. While some initially speculated that it might belong to the "souls-like" subgenre, the developers at Game Science have clarified that this is not the case. Despite sharing certain gameplay elements with the "soulslike" genre, early reviewers have noted that the game ultimately stands apart from it.

Black Myth: Wukong invites players to take control of a monkey protagonist known as the Destined One, modelled after Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. The game's combat system revolves around a mystical staff, inspired by the novel's Ruyi Jingu Bang, which can change size to suit different combat needs.

Players can engage in battles using three distinct stances—smash, pillar, and thrust—each offering unique attack options. The game also features a focus system, allowing players to build up points through well-timed manoeuvres and light attacks. These points can be spent on special combos or powerful heavy attacks.

In addition to the physical combat, players can harness spells, each of which occupies one of four available slots and consumes mana. Spells are governed by a cooldown system, adding another layer of strategy to the gameplay.
