Battlegrounds Mobile India, popularly referred to as BGMI, was confirmed by developer Krafton to be made playable starting May 29. The South Korean gaming giant announced last week that BGMI will be available for download for Android users via Google Play starting May 27, and the game will be playable starting May 29. On the other hand, iOS users can download BGMI via Apple’s App Store starting May 29, and the game was said to be playable right away. However, at the time of writing, BGMI remains unplayable on Android and entirely unavailable for download on the App Store.

ABP Live could independently verify that while BGMI is unavailable on the App Store, BGMI is still available to pre-load for Android users, since May 27. Karfton believes pre-loading the game would help avoid server stress and ensure a smooth experience for players when they’d actually be able to play the game. However, BGMI was expected to be available for playing on May 29.

When you install the game on an Android device, a popup message shows, “Starting today, May 27th, Android users can now begin preloading your favourite game from the Google Play store. Although the game can be played starting from May 29th, it is now ready for preloading. If you are unable to pre-load immediately, relax. Over the weekend you’ll eventually get the option. As for iOS users, you can download and start playing the game on May 29th, 2023.” No further options were provided to proceed from the message within the game.

It should be noted here that BGMI might just be available for playing later on during the day. Still, Krafton only mentioned May 29 and not an official date, so it was largely expected that the game would be available for playing at 12am on May 29.

BGMI Actual Launch Date Leaked

Late last week, as per a leaked social media post by an esports player who goes by the alias ‘spraygod’, a mail from Krafton allegedly shows that the actual relaunch date and time of BGMI are set for May 31 at 11am IST.

The mail from Krafton, which is said to be confidential, was leaked mistakenly and the uploader deleted the mail within an hour of posting it.

Known tipster and veteran gaming journalist Rishi Alwani also tweeted that BGMI could indeed see a launch on May 31.

Krafton is yet to announce any further details on when BGMI will actually be able to play for Android or iOS users.
