Harry Styles, fresh off his Grammy triumph for Album of the Year, had his debut concert in Australia on Monday in Perth. He surprised his admirers by drinking from his sneaker, as is an Aussie tradition.

Page Six reported that during his act, the artist took a sip from one of his shoes, then proceeded to fill it with liquid, and then without hesitation swallowed the entire contents of his shoe before putting it back on his foot. The musician followed in the footsteps of Formula One racer Daniel Ricciardo, who remarked, "This is one of the most disgusting traditions ever." He also stated that he felt like a "new person" after completing it and that he will "at length" discuss the experience with his therapist.

The video has gone viral on Twitter, and viewers are stunned. "Why Harry, why?" enquired one Twitter user. "Why did I have to see this?" said another. "I love how grossed out everyone is about this who isn't from Australia (laughing emoticon) this is a common drinking behaviour for us hahaha," another fan remarked. A similar remark said, "That's literally an Australian tradition. You people need to chill out. Other artists have done it before as well."

Conversely, as one fan pointed out, "I actually like how he does little things like this in these places to make his fans happy and to show how comfortable he is. It’s the tradition of the place and his disgusted reaction was so funny we won."

Harry Styles performed in Australia shortly after winning all four prize categories at the Brit Awards last week, including song of the year, best album, the best artist, and best pop/R&B act.

He also received three Grammy nominations, including album of the year. Many people were surprised by Harry's victory in the category because they expected Beyoncé to win. Other nominees included ABBA's Voyage, Adele's 30, Bad Bunny's Un Verano Sin Ti, Beyoncé's Renaissance, Mary J Blige's Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe), Brandi Carlile's In These Silent Days, Coldplay's Music of the Spheres, Kendrick Lamar's Mr Morale and The Big Steppers, and Lizzo's Special.
