Kabir Khan, the director of the movie '83' based on India's 1983 cricket World Cup triumph, has shared a teaser of the film on social media. In this teaser, we see the iconic backward running catch that Kapil Dev took in the 1983 World Cup final to dismiss the great Vivian Richards.
In the teaser we see Ranveer Singh, who is playing the role of Kapil Dev, running backward at a jampacked Lord's cricket ground which hosted the 83 final.
That was an iconic catch and the resemblance of the one recreated with the original one is uncanny.

This was Vivian Richard's catch that changed the course of the final. Richards was playing at 33 from 27 balls, as West Indies were 57 for 2 while chasing a small total of 184 runs in 60 overs.
The trailer of the movie will be out on November 30, 2021, while the film will be releasing on December 24, 2021. The sports drama is based on India’s victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Movie buffs have been eagerly waiting for the flick ever since the makers confirmed that it will release in the theatres.
Deepika Padukone, who is one of the co-producers of the film, will be seen as Ranveer Singh's on-screen wife in '83'. While Singh is playing the role of former Indian Cricket team captain Kapil Dev, Padukone will essay the character of his wife.
The movie will also star Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya and Sahil Khattar in key roles.
