New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently spoke about the plight of Kashmiri Pandits at the promotional event of SS Rajamouli's upcoming film 'RRR' in Delhi. At the event, the actor had expressed grief over what happened with Kashmiri pandits in 1990 and said, "Jo Kashmir main hua Kashmiri panditon ke saath woh yakeenan bahut dukh ki baat hai.

The actor had given the following statement in lieu of the recent film 'The Kashmir Files', directed by Vivek Agnihotri. The film is based on the exodus of Kashmiri pandits that took place in 1990. He had even urged every Indian to watch the film by saying, "Aesi ek film jo bani hai us topic main woh yakeenan har Hindustani ko dekhna chahiye aur har hindustani ko yaad karna chahiye."

He had also added, “This film has touched the emotions of all people who believe in humanity and that is what is so beautiful about it. I will definitely watch the film and I am happy to see that the film is successful."

But seems like this is not the first time when the actor spoke about the sad plight of Kashmiri pandits, who had to flee their homes during the genocide. The superstar spoke about the issue earlier as well, on Rajat Kapoor's famous show 'Aap Ki Adalat', way back in 2016. The video of Aamir Khan talking about the issue was shared by a twitter user recently with the caption, "Aamir Khan spoke about Kashmiri Pandits many many years before The Kashmir Files. This was in 2016. Absolutely love him for this."

In the video, Aamir Khan says, "This is a matter of disgrace and shame that there have been a few people who were driven away from their homes. It is the duty of the fellow Kashmiris to provide shelter to their Kashmiri Pandit brethren and procure their safety and security."

On the work front, Aamir Khan will next be seen in the much awaited film 'Laal Singh Chaddha', which is the remake of Tom Hanks' starrer 'Forrest Gump'. The film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan as the female lead.
