New Delhi: There is something about the 'Koffee With Karan' show that makes it stay in the headlines. Recently, on the first episode of 'Koffee With Karan Season 7', Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh graced the coffee couch. During the conversation, Ranveer revealed that he was 'unceremoniously dropped' from Bombay Velvet which ultimately went to Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranveer Singh who was present on the koffee couch with Alia Bhatt who will both be seen together in Karan Johar's upcoming film 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' revealed how the role went to Ranbir Kapoor.

As Ranveer and Alia played a game called Koffee Bingo, they had to choose what applied to them from statements like 'quickie in the vanity van', 'didn't speak to my partner for over a week', 'got rejected for a role', among others. When Ranveer chose 'got rejected for a role', Karan Johar pointed out that it must be 'Bombay Velvet' which Ranveer clarified that he was 'not rejected' but 'unceremoniously dropped' because 'his star value wasn't high' at the time 'which clearly has changed'.

'Bombay Velvet' also featured Karan Johar who made his acting debut in the film. The film failed miserably at the box office even though it was a critics favourite that year.

“I was not rejected, K (Karan Johar). I was unceremoniously dropped because at the time I couldn’t justify the budget. My star value wasn’t high. But things have changed,” Ranveer said.

Ranveer Singh will next be seen in Rohit Shetty's 'Cirkus'. His last performance in 'Jayeshbhai Jordaar' was well-received by critics and fans alike although the film received mixed reviews.

Alia Bhatt, on the other hand, will be seen alongside her husband Ranbir Kapoor in 'Brahmastra' and with Gal Gadot in 'Heart of Stone'.
