The much-awaited teaser of Mani Ratnam’s dream project Ponniyin Selvan-Part 1 has been released. The teaser was unveiled by the makers and star cast in Chennai on July 8. 


Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, which are jointly producing the film, tweeted the teaser and wrote “The Cholas Are Coming! #PS1Teaser #PS1 releasing in theatres on 30th September in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada! “ 



The teaser was also unveiled digitally by Amitabh Bachchan, Mahesh Babu, Suriya, Mohanlal and Rakshit Shetty.


More than a minute-long teaser shows larger-than-life war sequences, ravishing Aishwarya, magnificent Chiyaan Vikram, and more. The teaser has superhit written all over it. The film revolves around the power struggle of the Chola empire during the 10th century. 


First-look posters of the film’s actors were being released almost every day ahead of the teaser launch. After releasing the first look of actor Karthi as the Chola army commander Vanthiyathevan and the look of Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Aishwarya and Trisha’s looks in the film were released. The first look of Jayaram Ravi’s character Arunmozhi Varman AKA Raja Raja Cholan was released today.


Aishwarya Rai will be essaying the role of Queen Nandini while Trisha will be seen as Princess Kundavai. 


Touted as one of the most expensive Indian films, the first part of the film will release on September 30.   


The film, based on the classic Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy, will release in five languages -- Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. 


The film stars Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala. The music of the film is composed by AR Rahman while the cinematography is by Ravi Varman. National Award-winning art director Thotta Tharani is in charge of production design while Sreekar Prasad is the editor. 


Chiyaan Vikram missed the teaser launch 


Actor Vikram missed the teaser launch as he was admitted to the hospital earlier in the day due to chest discomfort. Initial reports suggested that the actor suffered a heart attack but his team issued a clarification. 


"Our dear Chiyaan is fine now. He is likely to be discharged from the hospital in a day. We hope this statement provides clarity and trust that the false rumours will be put to rest," the statement read.
