New Delhi: Bollywood singer and composer Wajid Khan part of the sibling duo Sajid-Wajid died today. According to music composer, Salim Merchant Wajid was hospitalised a few days ago at Surana Hospital, Chembur where his condition deteriorated.

"He had multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant a while ago. But recently he got to know about kidney infection... He was on the ventilator for the last four days, after his situation started getting worse. Kidney infection was the beginning and then he got critical," Salim told ABP News.

The duo who are the sons of tabla player Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan made their debut with Salman Khan's film Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya (1998) and went on to score several of his films which includes Tere Naam(2003), Garv (2004), Partner (2007), Dabangg franchise and the song 'Mashallah' in the film Ek Tha Tiger (2012).

The recently composed the Bhai- Bhai song by Salman Khan which was released in lieu of a film release on the occasion of Eid. Wajid Khan also did playback singing for Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Bollywood celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta expressed their shock after finding out about the news of his demise.  Actress Priyanka Chopra tweeted about Khan's death and said that what she 'will always remember is Wajid bhai's laugh'.


Preity Zinta wrote in a tweet that she is  'heartbroken that I did not get to say Goodbye'.


Singer Adnan Sami also paid a tribute to Khan and said he had 'lost a brother' in a tweet about his death.
