New Delhi: After makers announced that Tamil actor Vijay's 66th film's first look will be unveiled on the eve of his 48th birthday, fans' excitement hit another level. On 21st June, as promised, makers shared the film's name and its release date along with its first look poster.


The name of Vijay's 66th film is 'Varisu'. In the poster that the makers shared, Vijay is seen dressed in a suit looking sideways while the tagline of the poster reads, "The Boss Returns."


'Varisu' will bring together Rashmika Mandanna and Thalapathy Vijay for the first time.


The film is being directed by Vamshi Paidipally who directed Mahesh Babu for the super hit film 'Maharshi' in 2019. He is expected to deliver another super-hit like that.


Tamil actor Vijay also shared the first look poster on his Twitter handle and wrote, “Varisu.” Soon after Vijay’s announcement, fans began trending the same on Twitter and expressed their excitement for the upcoming film.


The comments section on Vijay’s post was flooded with comments that wished him 'happy birthday' or shared how eagerly they are waiting for ‘Varisu’.


'Varisu' is being touted as a pan-Indian film that will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.


The film is currently being shot in Tamil in Hyderabad. 


Besides Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay, 'Varisu' also stars Shaam, Yogi Babu, Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha.


'Varisu' is expected to release on Pongal in 2023.
