New Delhi: Lyricist and writer Varun Grover celebrated the tenth anniversary of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' which premiered at the Cannes Director's fortnight. He also shared the ticket to the world premiere of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' besides mentioning that Anurag Kashyap opaced the outside of the auditorium in nervousness as cinephiles sat to watch the 5 hour 20 minutes film.


23 May 2022 marks the tenth-anniversary of the cult favourite 'Gangs of Wasseypur' that redefined and opened a completely new genre of crime films in India. 


Varun walked down the memory lane by sharing snaps from the premiere that give us a picture of what the anticipation would have been like then. 


The lyricist who has time and again collaborated with Anurag Kashyap on films like 'Raman Raghav' and Netflix series 'Sacred Games'.


As he refreshed memories from the film, we also got a chance to see two additional verses Varun had penned for the famous track 'Womaniya'. He shared pictures of the handwritten notes on Twitter with a caption, "Two additional verses I had written for WOMANIYA (Gangs Of Wasseypur) that were never used. #TenYearsOfGOW (Handwriting: Sneha Khanwalkar)."



Anurag Kashyap's 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' introduced actors like Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in their best form  to Bollywood.

'Gangs Of Wasseypur' also became the first HIndi film to be screened at the Director's Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.
