‘The Sound Of Music’ Star Christopher Plummer Dies At The Age Of 91

New Delhi: The Oscar award-winning actor Christopher Plummer, who is popular for his role in the musical film, ‘The Sound Of Music’, passed away at the age of 91. Reportedly, the ‘The Last Station’ actor died peacefully at his home in Connecticut with his wife Elaine Taylor by his side.

Lou Pitt confirmed the news to Deadline Hollywood and revealed in a statement, “Chris was an extraordinary man who deeply loved and respected his profession with great old fashion manners, self-deprecating humor and the music of words.”

“He was a national treasure who deeply relished his Canadian roots. Through his art and humanity, he touched all of our hearts and his legendary life will endure for all generations to come. He will forever be with us”, Plummer’s long-time friend and manager for 46 years Lou Pitt added.

As soon as the news of his passing away broke out, Hollywood celebrities started remembering the great actor and pay a tribute to him.

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau tweeted, “We’ve lost one of our most iconic and beloved actors. From the Stratford Festival to "The Sound of Music" to "Star Trek," and countless other performances, Christopher Plummer gave life to so many characters we love and cherish - and always performed with gravitas and heart.”

Christopher’s co-star Julie Andrews mourned the loss in a statement, “The world has lost a consummate actor today and I have lost a cherished friend. I treasure the memories of our work together and all the humor and fun we shared through the years.”

Chris Evans tweeted, “This is truly heartbreaking. What an unbelievable loss. Few careers have such longevity and impact. One of my favorite memories from Knives Out was playing piano together in the Thrombey house between set ups. He was a lovely man and a legendary talent.”
