New Delhi: TV actor Rakesh Diwana who portrayed the character of 'Maharajji' in Star Plus' 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' passed away two years ago , but his family was waiting for justice.
The actor breathed his last on April 27, 2014 after a weight loss surgery at 'Mohak' hospital in Indore. The family of deceased actor accused hospital authority of negligence, deficiency in service and unfair trade practices.
However, the hospital management had then dismissed the charge saying “Diwana had undergone bariatric surgery on April 23 and at that time his condition was normal. After the procedure, he suffered hypertension and brain stem dysfunction which deteriorated his condition and he was shifted to ICU,” the hospital said in a statement.
Now, according to the reports of leading entertainment portal Tellychakkar, the family can take a sigh of relief as the NCDRC bench comprising presiding member Justice Ali Bharihoke and member Dr. SM Kantikar have issued notices to Dr. Bhandari, Mohak Hi-Tech Speciality Hospital and chief anesthesiologist Dr. Bipin Arya.
While talking to the portal Rakesh' eldest daughter Richa Diwana said, “It was a very big shock for all of us when we lost our father. With our mother not alive, we lost our only bread winner at a very young age. Yes, it is true that we had moved the NCDRC bench in Delhi. Now, we are glad that notices have been issued against the doctor. We have done our research well and are very sure that our father died due to medical negligence. Now we wait for the case to appear in court.”
