New Delhi: ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is one of the most popular and longest-running sitcoms on Indian television. All the actors in the show are being loved by the audience for the last 14 years. Amit Bhatt aka Champak Chacha is also an integral part of the show and is seen in almost all the episodes. However, the audience will miss him in a few upcoming episodes as he has got injured and has been advised bed rest by doctors. 


According to a report in ETimes, Bhatt was shooting for a scene in which he had to run, but he lost his balance and fell. The doctors have now advised him complete bed rest. The actor is currently not shooting for the show and the makers of the show are cooperating with him and are wanting him to recover from his injury soon. 


Amit Bhatt has been a part of the show since its inception. Amit’s character Champak Lal is loved by everyone and his banter with his son Jethalal is enjoyed by the audience. Not many know that Amit is actually younger than Dilip Joshi who plays Jethalal in the show. 


The show recently completed 14 years, it premiered on 28 July 2008. Since then, there have been a lot of changes to its cast. Disha Vakani, who used to play Dayaben, left the show in 2017 and her character has not been replaced till now. Recently Sachin Shroff joined the show to play Taarak Mehta after Shailesh Lodha quit a few months back. 


Recently in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shailesh spoke about the show. When asked about his reason for quitting, Shailesh recited lines by Bashir Badr. “Kuch toh majbooriyan rahi hongi, yun hi koi bevafa nahi hota (There must be some reason, people don’t leave without reason.) It’s not like I won’t reveal why I left the show. I will say but only at the right time,” he said in the interview.  


Shailesh also spoke about how his attachment to the show after working in it for 14 years. “We Indians are emotional people so we get attached to everything, there is no doubt about that. I am an emotional person. In fact, I call myself an emotional idiot. I am a sentimental fool. Attachment is natural. And if you do anything for 14 years, it will happen,” he told Siddharth Kannan.
