New Delhi: Sony SAB’s ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has managed to tickle the funny bones of the viewers with its comedic episodes. The popular sitcom has successfully completed over 2700 episodes and is still going strong. So many shows have been launched at 8:30pm slot but very few have been able to dethrone ‘Taarak Mehta’ from the slot leadership. ‘TMKOC’ completed 11 years on July 28 and the cast got together to cut a cake to celebrate the huge achievement.

At a time, when shows go off air within six months, ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ have continued to grab eyeballs week after week.

The characters of ‘TMKOC’, be it Jethalal or Dayaben, have become quite popular among the viewers.  Disha Vakani, who plays the role of Dayaben in the show, has been missing since September 2017. The beautiful actress is currently on a maternity break.

Speculations were rife that Disha would make a comeback to the show but the rumours died soon.

Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal Gada, while talking to a leading daily, said that he was missing Disah Vakani as the show completed 11 successful years.

"I am missing Disha Vakani a lot today. I have worked with her for almost 9 and a half years and it is not a short period. I feel she is still with us, it just that her priorities have changed now. She is a mother now and her priorities have obviously changed and today on this occasion we all are missing her," Dilip told Times Of India.

Gossip mills were earlier buzzing with the rumours that Vibhoutee Sharma would replace Disha Vakani as the new Dayabem. However, the ‘Bade Ache Lagte Hain’ actress squashed all the speculations.

The cast and crew of ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ celebrated their 11th anniversary with full joy and fervor. Munmun Dutta aka Babita Krishnan Iyer shares several pictures from the celebrations on Instgram.
