New Delhi: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the longest-running sitcoms on Indian television. The show has been running successfully for the last 15 years. However, the show’s fans are upset with the makers as they didn’t fulfill the promise of bringing Dayaben’s character back on the show leading to ‘Boycott TMKOC’ trending on social media.

The latest track showed everyone getting excited about Dayaben’s arrival and Jethalal and everyone in Gokul Dham organised a big welcome for her but she didn’t come back. This upset the viewers who were waiting for her return and criticised the makers for the false promise. The show’s producer Asit Modi has now released a statement saying that the show is not going off air and Dayaben’s character will return.

“I’m here to entertain my audience and I will never lie to my viewers. Only due to certain circumstances, we are unable to bring Daya’s character back on time. But, that does not mean that the character is not going to enter the show at all! Whether it is Disha Vakani or someone else, the time will tell. But, it’s my promise to the audience that Daya will be back, and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is going nowhere. It is not an easy task to run a comedy show for fifteen years. It is one of a kind, which has not witnessed a single leap,” Telly Chakkar quoted the statement.

Disha Vakani, who played Davaben, went on maternity leave in 2017 and hasn’t returned since then.

During the show's 15 years celebration, Asit Modi had said that Daya's character will be back soon."In this journey of 15 years, a hearty congratulations to all of them. One such artist is whom we cannot forget. That artist is Daya Bhabhi aka Disha Vakani. She has entertained the fans and also made us laugh for all these years. Fans have been waiting for her to come back, and I promise you all that Disha Vakani will soon be back to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah," he had said.

While many actors who left the show, like Shailesh Lodha and Raj Anadkat, were replaced by other actors, Disha Vakani was not replaced even six years after she left the popular sitcom.
