New Delhi: Shailesh Lodha, known for playing the titular role in long-running TV show 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah', has won the lawsuit he filed against the show producer Asit Modi for not clearing his dues. After being a part of the show for 14 years, he quit the show after a rift with the producer, Asit Modi. Shailesh Lodha played the titular role in the show for 14 years.
As per many reports by publications, Lodha had filed the case against the producer for not clearing his dues.
As per TOI, 'as per the settlement terms a sum of Rs 1,05,84,000/- is being paid by way of demand draft’ by Asit to Shailesh. Shailesh had approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for the clearance of his year-long dues earlier this year. The report further read that under the section 9 of insolvency and bankruptcy code, the matter was heard through a virtual hearing. It was ‘settled between the parties as per the consent terms by the counsel for the parties.’
Shailesh Lodha told TOI, "This fight was never about the money. It was about seeking justice and self-respect. I feel like I have won a battle and I’m happy that the truth has prevailed.” He added, “He (Asit) wanted me to sign some papers to clear my dues. They had certain clauses like you cannot talk to the media and other things. I didn’t bow down to the arm-twisting. Why would I sign any papers to get my own money?”
'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' has been running for 15 years now. Dilip Joshi plays the role of Jethalal in the show, while Sachin Shroff plays the new Taarak. Disha Vakani who had played the role od Daya, had earlier quit the show, but is now back.
'Taarak Mehta..' has been one of the longest running sitcoms on Indian TV with massive fan base among children and elderly.
