New Delhi: SAB TV's popular sitcom 'Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashmah' is one of the most loved shows on small-screen currently. While 11-year-old 'Taarak Mehta...' is still among the top-rated shows, it is making headlines these days due to wrong reasons. In one of the recent scenes, actor Amit Bhatt's aka Jethalal's (Dilip Joshi) father Champaklal Gada said that Hindi is the common language of Mumbai. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) objected this scene and asked for an apology from the actor & team.

Soon after receiving an open threat by the MNS, Amit Bhatt wrote an apology letter to the party's chief Raj Thackeray on MNS Chitrapat Sena president Amey Khopkar's demand.

In the letter, Bhatt wrote that "while portraying a character I perform whatever is demanded by the scriptwriters. I personally respect Marathi language and I am proud of it. I wholeheartedly apologize for the mistake".

'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' producer Asit Modi also issued a statement regarding the whole controversy and stated that he respects all languages. He took to his Twitter account and wrote, "मुंबई महाराष्ट्र में है और हमारे महाराष्ट्र की राजभाषा भाषा मराठी ही है. इस में कोई डाउट नहीं है. मैं भारतीय हूँ . महाराष्ट्रियन हूँ और गुजराती भी हूँ. सारी भारतीय भाषाओं का सम्मान करता हूँ. जय हिन्द,"

In last night's (March 3) episode of 'TMKOC', the makers aired a segment stating that their only motive is to spread love. The video has been shared on the show's official Twitter handle with the message, "The only thing we believe in spreading love and happiness! We apologize if we have hurted any sentiments through our show. We believe in unity in diversity & respect for each and every religion and its mother tongue. Keep smiling & keep watching #TMKOC!."
