New Delhi: 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is one of the longest-running Indian sitcoms and is hugely popular. One of the show's main characters, Tapu, was missing after Raj Anadkat quit the show. The makers have now found a new Tapu in actor Nitish Bhaluni. The YouTube channel of the show shared a video where the show’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi introduced the actor as the new Tapu.

Previously, Raj Anadkat and Bhavya Gandhi have played Tapu on the show. Nitish has previously worked in the TV show Meri Doli Mere Angna.

Raj Anadkat left Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah in December 2022 after being a part of it for five years.

Meanwhile, during a media interaction, actor Dilip Joshi, who plays Jethalal in the show, was asked about Daya’s return to the show. “It depends on the makers. They will decide if they wish to replace and cast a new actor or not. As an actor, I miss the character of Daya. For a long time you all have enjoyed good and fun scenes of Daya and Jetha. Ever since Disha ji left, that part, that angle, the funny part has been missing. The chemistry between Daya and Jetha is missing. People are also saying the same. Let’s see, I am always positive, Asit bhai is always positive. So you never know if something interesting may come up. Kal kisne dekha,” the actor was quoted as saying by ETimes.

‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ recently completed 14 years, and it premiered on 28 July 2008. Since then, there have been a lot of changes to its cast apart from Tapu’s character. Disha Vakani, who used to play Dayaben, left the show in 2017, and her character has not been replaced till now. Sachin Shroff joined the show to play Taarak Mehta after Shailesh Lodha quit the show.
