New Delhi: Veteran actor Satish Kaul, who played the role of Devraj Indra in BR Chopra’s ‘Mahabharat’, is struggling with financial crisis. The actor, fondly known as Punjabi cinema’s Amitabh Bachchan, is currently living in an old age home in Ludhiana. Satish is going through a rough phase in his life and is facing financial trouble.


According to a report in a leading daily, Satish Kaul separated from his wife years ago. The talented actor was working at Punjabi University since 2014 but an unfortunate accident left him helpless. Satish fell and fractured his hip bone in the year 2015.

He was kept on bed red rest for two years and since then, he has been struggling to make ends meet, the report in Times Of India said.

Some reports suggest that Satish Kaul opened his own acting school but he suffered major losses. The actor failed to revive to business.



Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had provided Kaul a financial aid of Rs 5 lakh last year after he came to know about his situation. He had tweeted,"Wish iconic Punjabi actor Satish Kaul ji good health and recovery. Have released Rs 5 lakh for his medical treatment through DC Ludhiana. We stand committed to helping all those who have contributed to our state & it's culture."





On the professional front, Satish Kaul has featured in more than 300 Punjabi and Hindi films. Some of his notable films include ‘Aunty No. 1’, ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Khooni Mahal’, and ‘Iljam’. He also worked in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Vikram Betal’.

'Mahabharat' on DD Bharti has topped the TRP charts as per the recent BARC ratings. Keeping the popularity of the epic drama in mind, Colors channel is also airing 'Mahabharat' on all the days from 7-9pm.
