The actress shot for a song for the upcoming film, 'Patel ki Panjabbi Shaadi, which stars Rishi Kapoor, Vir Das, Payal Ghosh and Paresh Rawal. The film is directed by Sanjay Chhel, who previously made Khoobsurat with Sanjay Dutt and Urmila Matondkar.

Speaking to Mirror, the director Sanjay Chhel gave a little insight about the film and, of course, the song. He said, “The film is a cross-cultural comedy with Rishi playing a boisterous Punjabi and Paresh, a traditional Gujarati. They share a Tom and Jerry kind of a relationship peppered with personality clashes. The special number is set during an engagement ceremony.”

He further added, “Shilpa fits the bill. She is a male fantasy and also popular among the family audience, a great combo of sex appeal and a sanskari image.” She revealed, “It was the film’s last schedule and I didn’t want to lose out on the song. Rishi Kapoor had heard about me leaving the show and pointed out that I should not have got off a chalti gaadi, we are artistes. I told him, aag lagi aur mujhe koodna pada. Even Pareshji admitted that his wife (Swaroop Sampat) used to watch my show.”
