New Delhi: Actress Radhika Madan has been getting a lot of criticism for her recent comment on the work culture of the television industry. After Sayantani Ghosh, now Ekta Kapoor has reacted to Radhika's comment and called it ‘sad and shameful’.
Ekta reposted a video of Sayantani commenting on Radhika's statement. She wrote with it, “Sad and shameful actors have no respect for their roots Kudos @sayantanighosh0609.”
It all began when Radhika Madan gave an interview recently recalling her 40-50 hour shift while working in TV. She said that whenever she asked for the script, she was told, "aap set pe chalo, script garma garam aa rahi hai." She also shared that directors would make changes once the set was confirmed and any director who happened to be free at the time would shoot the scene or show episode. The 'Shiddat' actor also added that whenever she had anything to say about her character, Radhika was told that they would think about it when they make a film and not a TV serial.
Sayantani first reacted to the comment through an Instagram post and then spoke about it in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. Sayantani said, "Let me just say I am a huge admirer of her acting prowess. I didn’t see her full interview, but I was a little hurt and disappointed and what I felt upon seeing that I posted underneath her video. Let me tell you, TV feeds hundreds and hundreds of women, and gives them employment, and biggest of movie stars also choose TV to come and promote their films. So I didn’t like that approach."
“We also have Mouni Roy, she is a dear friend of mine, and in the interviews I have listened, there is a certain grace that she began her career from TV, that I didn’t find in Radhika’s clip. She and many others look down upon TV, you shouldn’t do that, I feel. My problem is don’t treat TV as a stepping stone." she added.
Many television actors, including Anita Hassanandani, Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya, Karanvir Bohra, also reacted to Sayantani’s comment. “Well said,” wrote Anita Hassanandani. Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya commented, “Sayantani I completely agree with your views and admire the way you have addressed the issue.” Karanvir Bohra wrote, “Well said @sayantanighosh0609 what she said wasnt wrong, but the way she said was demeaning ..... @radhikamadan you should have been a Lil more sensitive about this...aapko kya lagta hai, filmo mein aibe nahi hai (What do you think? Making films comes without all this)?”
Radhika's latest release was Kuttey with Arjun Kapoor and Tabu.
