New Delhi: TV actress Priya Bathija, who is currently seen in Tina Dutta and Mohit Malhotra starrer ‘Daayan’ on &TV, has opened up about the troubles in her marriage with DJ Kawaljeet. Priya and Kawaljeet had tied the knot om May 22, 2017 in a Gurudwara. Rumours of trouble in their wedding recently started doing the rounds on the internet. It was said that the couple was not staying together since a year now and would file for divorce. Priya has finally addressed the rumours while talking to an entertainment portal. According to the report, the actress filed a police complaint in Mumbai’s Oshiwara against Kawaljeet accusing him of domestic violence. Kawaljeet recently came down to Mumbai and compelled the actress to sign the divorce papers by mutual consent, the report added. ‘’It is unfortunate that we have to speak about this; you would expect how a girl who is  going through divorce the second time (earlier married to actor Jatin Shah)  feels! Like any girl, I wanted to have a fairytale wedding, otherwise why would I agree to marry again? Having lost faith in love marriage, I agreed for an arrangement match. I had hoped this was for good, which is why I even agreed to put my career on pause and spend time in Raipur,’’ Priya told SpotboyE. Priya & Kawal (Photo: Instagram) Priya further said that she made every effort possible to help her husband in his career but he didn’t take the relationship seriously. ‘’But what I thought and what was--- were two different things altogether! After marriage when I moved to Raipur to stay with him and his parents - it appeared that my husband wanted to settle down in Mumbai! At first I thought, I couldn't have asked for more! Surprisingly, my MIL was adamant that we shift to Mumbai, bag and baggage. I made every effort to help my husband in his career, but never did he treat this as a serious relationship. I was, in fact, a ticket to his life in Mumbai,’’ the actress told the portal. The ‘Kasamh Se’ actress said that Kawaljeet made her sign the divorce papers by mutual consent and she agreed because her father wanted her to end the relationship. ‘’I wish him all the best, but honestly it’s unfortunate that it had to end this way! He made me sign the divorce papers by mutual consent; my Dad just wanted it to end so I complied,’’ Priya was quoted as saying by the portal. DJ Kawaljeet chose not to respond to the allegations against him. Talking about Priya, the actress told the portal that she has decided to move on and her fans will see more of her on the small screen. For the uninitiated, Priya was previously married to ‘Kasturi’ actor Jatin Shah. The two TV actors got divorced in 2011. Jatin got hitched to actress Aparna Singh in December 2015.
