There were various reports that the film might star Kriti Sanon or 'Dangal' sisters Fatima Sana Shaikh-Sanya Malhotra as the leads. But now, the makers have finally announced the casting of the film. While one of the leads in the film is 'Dangal' fams Sanya Malhotra, her on-screen sister Fatima is not a part of the film. The other actress who is playing the lead in the film is known TV actress Radhika Madan who played the lead role of 'Ishaani' in Ekta Kapoor's popular 'Colors' show 'Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi'.

Speaking about casting Sanya & Radhika in 'Chhuriyaan', filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj told a leading daily that, "Sanya and Radhika are fantastic. They are youthful and completely untouched by the world of glamour. Their energy is infectious as well. They come to my office to discuss the film and soon I am as energetic as them. I am consumed by a very different kind of excitement that takes me back to my Makdee days."
For the film, the leading ladies will also have to gain 10-12kgs for the second schedule.
Vishal also opened about the same and further told Mumbai Mirror that, "The film is divided into two parts — the girls before their marriage and how their lives change after they tie the knot. Usually actors give directors a commitment, but when push comes to shove they get cold feet. But that doesn’t happen with newcomers who are ready for anything. I am looking forward to directing Sanya and Radhika because I can mould them according to my will, change their look and create something fresh."

Sanya is active in films ever since she made her debut with Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' in 2016 as she had already completed the shooting of her second film 'Badaahi Ho' opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. Whereas, this announcement has came as a good news for Radhika as she is away from screens since a long time ever since her debut TV show 'Meri Aashiqui...' co-starring Shakti Arora went off-air in February 2016. Reportedly, Radhika has also completed the shooting of her first Bollywood film titled 'Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota' opposite Bhagyashree's son Abhimanyu Dassani.
Coming back to 'Chhuriyaan', Radhika shared the good news on her Instagram with the caption, "आ रहे है छुरियाँ चलाने!"
The film is set in Rajasthan and revolves around two sisters who are at loggerheads. 'Chhurriyan' is all set to go on floors in the last week of April & the actresses are currently preparing for the film in a village in Rajasthan.
